Community Development
The purpose of the Department of Community Development is to promote sustainable and balanced development while protecting the physical environment and improving the quality of life for our residents, businesses and visitors. This is accomplished through utilizing the Comprehensive Plan as a guide, community outreach, and ensuring compliance with all applicable ordinances and regulations.
Duties
Responsibilities of the department include processing applications for land developments, commercial and residential subdivisions, conditional uses, and zoning variances. The department coordinates meetings with developers and residents throughout the review and approval process and acts as a liaison to the Board of Commissioners, Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board.
Divisions
The department is comprised of Planning (Developments and Subdivisions), Zoning, Building Permits, Code Enforcement, and Fire.
